Elder Harrison Adams' Return Flight Information
We don't know if it's a mistake or not, but the first leg of Elder Harrison Adams' return flight home is listed as First Class. What's most likely is it's a small plane and he's in "A Class".

Family and Friends,
Hello Y'all! There's lots
to write about this week! Lots of good and bad things happened.
To start off we had
to drop one of our investigators which was really hard, but necessary as well.
Sometimes it's a hard and scary thing to do, but if we follow the Spirit's
direction it will all work out. God has a play for each and every one of us. A
few days later we also had to drive some Elders to the airport and say goodbye
to them. That was also a little hard and sad.
However, even though
this week had some hard things, it was chalked full of amazing things as well! We
had lots of success finding new investigators and have found some really good
potential in several of them.
One of the biggest
highlights of the week however happened on Saturday. A while back Elder Cook
had planned to visit our mission but due to an ice-storm he wasn't able to
come. So he rescheduled and came back this past Saturday! We met in Portsmouth
Virginia which was about a three hour drive from Greenville. Our mission
president wanted us to drive up over night so we did that and stayed with some
other Spanish Elders. Then Saturday morning we had a meeting, as a whole
mission, with Elder Cook. It was so good and so amazing! We talked mostly about
Easter and developing Christlike attributes. It was very inspiring and
instructive. The Spirit that Elder Cook brought with him as well was
incredible.
After the conference,
we had some lunch and then had to drive all the way down to Kinston (4 hours
away) for stake conference. We were running a little late but somehow made it
just on time. We sang in the choir, and then got to hear from Elder Keetch and
President Walker. It was really good. They talked about strengthening your
marriage which of course doesn't apply to me right now, but I have some good
ideas for the future now!
The next day, Sunday,
we had the second session of stake conference in New Bern. About an hour and a
half away from Greenville. Elder Keetch spoke to us again about the importance
of service. He talked about a man that wanted to double his spirituality. He
shared his plan with Elder Keetch, saying he was going to double the times he
went to the temple, double his scripture study, and even go to church twice on
Sunday. His hope was to double his spirituality by doubling those aspects of
his worship. However, Elder Keetch told him what he thought would be the best
way to double his spirituality. He said, "Instead of the time you would
take to do all of those extra things, even though those are fantastic, use that
time instead to perform simple acts of service." He went on to explain
that of course we need the basic building blocks of scripture reading, church
attendance, and temple worship. However, it's also important to remember to
give service to others. That's my favorite thing about being a missionary. We
have so many opportunities to serve. And I know that as we serve not only will
we increase our spirituality, but we will draw closer to God and be the type of
people that he would want us to be.
Well after all of
those amazing events, we had one more! Since stakes out here are pretty large,
Morehead City is included in our stake. So at stake conference I was able to
see lots of the families from Morehead City. In specific, the Willis and
Clifton family! After conference, people always bring food and have a picnic
outside, and they invited us to eat with them. It sure made me miss them and
Morehead City!
Alright, that's about
all for this week! Y'all take care!
Love,
Elder Adams

Family and Friends,
Hello Y'all! This
week was fantastic. It was super busy, but that made it go by super fast. We
were out of our area a few days for meetings and exchanges so we weren't able
to work in our area as much as we would have liked, but we still got lots of
good things done!
We were able to teach
a few new people. Last night we met a man named Nacho, and we had a really good
lesson with him. It's been interesting to see how effective it is to study and
become a Preach My Gospel missionary. The more I've focused my efforts on
following the council in that inspired book, we've had more success and all
around people tend to listen more! I also love the fact that we have a
companion to back up and expound on what we said.
I've thought a lot
about President Utchdorf's talk from last general conference. We, to some degree,
are all Amuleks. We have the ability and responsibility to sustain and uphold
our church leaders, and to also give them advice and add to their testimony. I
know that we need both Almas and Amuleks in this church. And, in many ways, we
are all both!
Zone meeting this
week went really good. We focused on how we can commit ourselves, so we can
better commit others. Personal conversion comes first, and personal
obligations. But after we found ourselves on the doctrine of Christ and on His
atonement, then we have the great responsibility and privilege to help others
see and accept this wonderful Gospel!
Well, I sure love Y'all!
Keep up the good work, and remember, the church is true!

Elder Adams

Elder Harrison Adams 4/3/17 Greenville, NC
Family and Friends,
This week was
fantastic because we had General Conference! General Conference is literally
the best thing as a missionary (and as a normal member as well!). I love the
chance we get every six months to hear from our church leaders. I love and
sustain them. I'm glad that we live in a living, growing church! I'm grateful
for continued guidance and revelation from church leaders. I know that this
church is guided by a latter day profet.
I especially enjoyed
the talk given by President Uchdorf in the priesthood session. "The most
important calling in the church, is the one you currently have." I just
find that so insightful! Wether we're a missionary, a bishop, a primary
teacher, or a greeter. Our calling is the most important one to the church. And
it is so important to our Heavenly Father. I know that as we strive to fulfill
and magnify our callings that we will feel a special joy knowing that we are
serving our God!
This week I became
companions with Elder Mickelson for the third time. It's been really neat
getting to talk to him, since we were companions in the MTC. Later we were
companions at the beginning of our respective missions. It's been a little bit
of time since then, so we've been able to talk about the different experiences
and cool things we've had happen on our missions!
We're also getting
lots of hard work done, which is always the best cure if you're feeling a
little down! Things here in Greenville are looking good! I'm grateful for the time
I have to be a missionary.
I love Y'all so much!
Have a fantastic week!

Family and Friends,
This week was great!
Just a quick update on transfers, I will be staying here in Greenville again.
Elder Barboza will be going to Morehead City and Elder Mickelson is coming to
be my companion. Funny thing, I was companions with Elder Mickelson in the MTC
and then for a little bit when I served in Morehead City. So, this will be our
third time being together. It should be fun!
This week was a
little slow. Lots of appointments fell through or were cancelled. However, the
appointments we did teach were all really great. We taught a lesson on the Book
of Mormon and it was one of the better lessons I've been in my entire mission.
I was on exchanges with Elder Prue who didn't speak Spanish, so it was kind of
fun. They would ask him a question but I had to tell them that he didn't speak
Spanish.
Recently I've been
doing a study on chapter ten of Preach my Gospel. This chapter is all about
developing teaching skills. I've been able to apply lots of things into my
teaching and have been able to see many improvements. I love Preach my Gospel
and know that it is an inspired resource we can use, not just as missionaries,
but as members of the Church.
Side note that I
forgot, we found a really good taco truck this week! The have really good tacos
al pastor and also have great carne asada as well. I'll put some photos in
below.
Have a great week!

Elder Adams

Family and Friends,
I feel like I say
this every week, but we had another really good week here! It's been great to
work hard and to see lots of success as well!
We were able to go to
a small town a little outside of Greenville called Washington. It's a really
pretty town. I'll include some photos. We had a few former investigators to
stop by, and we were just making our way around visiting them. Well, we then
drove by a dirt road, but felt like we needed to stop and go back. So we get to
this dirt road, and go down it. Turns out there was a trailer park hiding
behind all the trees! So we go in and we both are instantly attracted to this
bright yellow house. We knocked on it several times, but nobody answered. But
as we were walking away a Colombian lady stuck her head out the window and
started talking to us. She told us to come back the next day, so we did. Well,
turns out that this cute little family took missionary discussions about 6
years ago. Spanish missionaries were taken out of the area, and so they weren't
able to continue learning. And since they lived in a different area then at that
time, we had no teaching record of them or knew that they existed. But, we're
teaching them again and they are excited to start coming back to church (they
had been several times before).
Another neat
experience we had was this past Sunday. We were getting ready to go into ward council
when I felt the impression that we needed to stop by a certain family and
invite them to church. I wanted to brush off the feeling, because we had
invited them the previous night and they said they were for sure going to come,
but we decided to go either way and miss ward council. We got to their house
and knocked on the door. They answered, and clearly had just woken up when we
knocked on their door. Turns out their house lost power the night before so
their alarm clock never went off! But, because we stopped by, we were able to
see them all at church. They were all so happy to be there, and had a great
time.
I'm so grateful for
the direction and guidance of the Holy Ghost. In Elder's Quorum we had a lesson
on the Holy Ghost, and it seems that our week was packed full of experiences
relating to the Holy Ghost. I'm grateful for this gift that God has given us.
One of the greatest gifts we can receive here in mortality. I'm also grateful
for the role of the Holy Ghost. To testify of righteousness, truth, and to give
us revelation and warnings! It doesn't matter if we feel lost sometimes in
life, because we have a never-failing compass. I'm so grateful for the Holy
Ghost, for our Lord Jesus Christ, and for our loving Heavenly Father.
Love,
Elder Adams

Hello Y'all!
This week was a
little interesting! Yesterday morning we woke up with a little bit of snow on
the ground and snow falling from the sky. That was a little strange because
earlier in the week the weather was in the mid 70's. After an hour it was all
gone, but since then it's been a little colder. Supposedly we're also supposed
to get a little bit of snow this Wednesday.
Teaching this week
was a little tough. Not lots of people were home, and when we did go tracting
not a whole lot of people were willing to listen to us. Although those times
are hard, I'm grateful for those hard moments. Without the bitter, we wouldn't
know sweet. Without being rejected, we wouldn't fully appreciate the joys of
teaching someone. Without pain, hardship, and strife, we wouldn't be able to
appreciate or enjoy this wonderful life and world that has been created for us.
This Sunday we taught
Elders Quorum again, and the subject was on prayer. I sure am grateful for
prayer! Without it, I would be so lost. It's so comforting to know that
whenever I want, I can commune with God. I don't have to wait. I don't have to
hope he picks up the phone. Or text and wait for a response. He will listen to
me. I also know that prayers are answered. Maybe not in the way we expect, or
in our time, but God does answer prayers.
Y'all have a great
week!
Love,
Elder Adams
